Mkhizwana Water Treatment Works
Upgrading of the existing plant from 1.3ML/day to 4ML/day. upgrading of the existing plant included the following civil, mechanical and electrical works:
Earthworks, reinforced concrete slabs for clarifier and various process tanks, modification of existing Raw Water Offtake from the Umgeni Water Nagle Aqueduct, Replacement of Raw Water Inlet Flow Control System,
Design, fabrication / supply, installation, test and commission all treatment components, Conversion of 3 of 5 existing slow sand filters to potable water storage, Conversion of remaining 2 tanks to sludge holding tanks, Upgrade existing steep gravel access road to site to a concrete road, construction of a new 30m2 Administration Office, construction of new 54m2 reinforced concrete Pumpstation building with brick infill panels.
Modifications and refurbishment of existing Clearwater Pumpstation / Chlorine Dosing Building, including all interconnecting pipework and valves.
Electrical Works including MCC’s, DB’s, LV reticulation, small power and lighting in buildings, site lighting and earthing and lightning protection, new 330kVA standby generator, controls and Instrumentation.
Installation of a 110 diameter HDPE sewer line for the Administration Building.
