  1. Mpungose Bulk Water Phase 1D Supply Pipeline.

 

Role: Assistant RE

 

  • Key Components: The project involves the installation of approximately 8.8 km of uPVC supply pipes.
  • Type of Project: New water reticulation project, including yard connections.
  • Area: uMLALAZI Municipality (DC28), part of the King Cetshwayo District Municipality.

 

Objectives:

  • Service Delivery Improvement: To upgrade the water service to communities in the Eshowe/Mpungose area.
  • Infrastructure Development: Installation of bulk water pipelines to transport potable water from existing or new treatment works.
  • Water Access: Implementation of piped water supply directly to households (yard connections).

 

  1. Refurbishment and Augmentation of Water Supply Schemes in Ward 1 (old Demarcation) Within Jozini Local Municipality.

Role: Site Agent

  • Entity: Mhlathuze Water.
  • Category: Water collection, treatment, and supply.

The project's primary goal was the upgrading of existing infrastructure and the construction of new water infrastructure to improve water supply for the communities in Jozini. Construction of 110mm Bulk pipeline, and 75mm, 50mm and 32mm diameter pipelines.

Project Description: The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL): Periodic Maintenance of National Route 1 Section 17 from Westleigh (km 77.80) to Heuningspruit (km 101.30) = 23.6 km in total. This project is in the province of the Free State in the district municipality of Fezile Dabi and the local municipality of Moqhaka. The approximate duration is 18 months including 3 Months for the Mobilization Period.

 

Scope of Works: 

  • Surface Repairs: Milling of existing UTFC (25-30 mm) and The areas demonstrating surface failures will be milled to a depth of 50mm and
    replaced with 50mm continuously graded asphalt.
  • Base Repair - Bitumen Stabilized Materials (BSM1): In situ recycled to a depth of 150mm to BSM1 quality(2% SS60 and 1% cement).
  • Texture Slurry: A fine texture slurry should be applied to the entire carriageway once all surface and base repairs are completed.
  • Surface Seal: A surface seal comprising a 20/7.1/7.1 split seal utilizing a S-E1 penetration binder.

Mkhizwana Water Treatment Works

Upgrading of the existing plant from 1.3ML/day to 4ML/day. upgrading of the existing plant included the following civil, mechanical and electrical works:
Earthworks, reinforced concrete slabs for clarifier and various process tanks, modification of existing Raw Water Offtake from the Umgeni Water Nagle Aqueduct, Replacement of Raw Water Inlet Flow Control System, 
Design, fabrication / supply, installation, test and commission all treatment components, Conversion of 3 of 5 existing slow sand filters to potable water storage, Conversion of remaining 2 tanks to sludge holding tanks, Upgrade existing steep gravel access road to site to a concrete road, construction of a new 30m2 Administration Office, construction of new 54m2 reinforced concrete Pumpstation building with brick infill panels.
Modifications and refurbishment of existing Clearwater Pumpstation / Chlorine Dosing Building, including all interconnecting pipework and valves. 
Electrical Works including MCC’s, DB’s, LV reticulation, small power and lighting in buildings, site lighting and earthing and lightning protection, new 330kVA standby generator, controls and Instrumentation.
Installation of a 110 diameter HDPE sewer line for the Administration Building.

Consulting Engineering Services For The Upgrading Of National Route 2 Between Umtentweni Interchange And Hibberdene Interchange

The project consists of the construction of a new carriageway freeway alongside the existing 2-lane single carriageway freeway. 14 existing bridges (of which 6 across rivers) and 13 major culverts structures (of which 5 across rivers) will be extended or new structures constructed next to existing to accommodate traffic to the new carriageway. Among new structures to be constructed along the new carriageway, there will be a 180m long bridge across Mzumbe river
